Description

Artist’s Biography/Statement:

The work is in honor of women whose strength in both personal disappointments and triumph have benefited women for decades to come. The quilt patterns, North Star, Monkey Wrench and Flying Geese, are taken from the freedom quilts sewn by African American women. The Rose Wreath quilt pattern signified someone who died on the journey to freedom. The business style shoe references the patriarchal system which holds women down. My artwork is a tribute to all female-identifying people who have worked toward freedom and choice for us all.
